In depth

Verdict

After a pipe-opener on the Flat, Dino Velvet ran well for third at Southwell and will probably be in the firing-line again though finished behind third Ingleby Hollow and fifth Valentino Dancer in the contest 12 months ago. Fair Mountain was second in this race two years ago off today’s mark and will have benefited from his run at Ascot, though did finish tailed off. Caius Marcius has been a grand servant to connections but Fiesole is 12lb higher than for his last success. Red Force One is fit from the Flat but HIGHLY PRIZED has scope for improvement this season. He ran better than the final result suggests in the Betfair Hurdle in February having looked progressive earlier at Huntingdon.
