The ex-Australian Specular has so far been a disappointment since joining Jonjo O'Neill's stable and, while chasing may be the making of him, preference is for Spectrometer, with Sharp Single looking the best of the remainder. The selection arguably went a shade stale when with Philip Hobbs and may have been rejuvenated for the switch to Richard Guest's stable. The son of Rainbow Quest looked likely to make a winning start to his chasing career until falling three out at Kelso on Wednesday. The seven-year-old had looked a natural until that point and, provided that tumble has not left its mark Spectrometer is taken to open his account over fences. Peter Beaumont has his string in better form now than for some time so it would come as no surprise to see Sharp Single step up on previous efforts. However, along with the likes of Gaucho and Bobosh, he needs to improve greatly to trouble the selection Spectrometer.
