Prime Contender took advantage of the drop to this class when justifying favouritism at Doncaster when last seen in February and Gary Moore's gelding has to be respected but he faces no easy task up against Pepporoni Pete, who gets the vote with Three Ships rated the pick of the remainder. The selection did not have the best of seasons last term over fences when he failed to add to his reappearance success at Sandown in November on his debut over fences. Paul Nicholls has a fine record when sending his runners into selling or claiming company and on his old hurdles form Pepporoni Pete should be tough to beat. Tom George's Dyneburg has the ability to take a hand in the finish here but has failed to complete in three of his last four starts over fences and now returns to hurdles for what may be a confidence booster. The Evan Williams-trained Mr Wiseguy is hard to back with any confidence on recent form and of more interest may be Jim Best's Three Ships, who is a consistent performer, especially in this grade. Pepporoni Pete could be different class to his rivals though and he is preferred.
