never fluent and tended to jump left, raced freely in lead, mistake 2nd, fiddled 5th (water), went left 4 out, went left and joined next, hung left headed and no extra run-in
tracked leading pair, jumped slowly 6th, travelling well approaching 4 out where jumped left, challenged next, close 2nd when blundered 2 out, led and hung right run-in, driven clear
tracked leader, went right 7th, went left 4 out, joined leader and every chance next, still going well enough when fell heavily 2 out
TREE OF LIBERTY will only need to jump round to record a third win over the larger obstacles and he hasn’t looked like falling so far. His only defeat came against the smart Saint Calvados at Newbury. Cap'n makes his fencing bow but was highly tried over hurdles so is preferred to the very moderate Over To Midnight for second spot.
