In depth

Verdict

Sudden Shock beat Montreal by nearly ten lengths in a listed handicap hurdle at Aintree last season and, only a pound worse off at these weights, is strongly fancied to confirm the form over fences. The latter had his limitations exposed behind Ibal at Chepstow last time and would ideally like the ground to be a bit faster. The selection was heavily backed to win his chasing debut at Wincanton, but came tumbling down at the second fence. He has been given plenty of time to recover from that and should not make the same mistake again. Dat My Horse made mistakes on his chasing debut and has a lot to find on his hurdles form, while Zaffamore is another who faces a stiff task against these rivals.
