A tricky race to start proceedings with a couple of unknown quantities and and a couple who could improve on previous racecourse form. Cho Polu ran a decent race on his reappearance at Exeter recently and is entitled to improve on that effort. The step up in trip should suit and a big run is expected. Three Lions was well regarded last season and was sent to Cheltenham for the Festival where he fell at the second obstacle before putting in a better effort in a good race at Ascot later in the year. This front-runner is the TEAMtalk selection to put a poor reappearance run on heavy ground behind him and score for his in-form trainer. Putup Or Shutup will have his supporters following a solid effort at Ascot recently but that race was run in a slow time so the bare form is dubious. Daretobedifferent hails from an in-form yard and market support for this gelding would be significant. Clever Thyne had shown progressive form in all his runs before falling on his chase debut. His previous hurdle experience will stand him in good stead and if not effected too badly by his fall should be in the shake up. Oliver Sherwood does well at this track and his Montys Double is entitled to progress from his sole racecourse appearance at Market Rasen last season and could pick up some place prize money.
