In depth

Verdict

Reseda has obvious claims and should pay to support ahead of Humid Climate and Scotch Corner. Reseda was far from foot perfect over hurdles, but did manage to win twice this year, most recently here at Ludlow in May when her sights were considerably lowered. Ian Williams had earlier pitched her in against useful company, and the ex-German mare still has plenty of time on her side to make her mark. She made her debut over fences at Fontwell in November and lined up with plenty of confidence behind her, but the two and a half mile trip seemed to stretch her stamina, especially in the soft ground, and she was collared by Dedrunknmunky. The drop back in trip and slightly better conditions should ensure that she opens here account, especially as she is in receipt of weight from her five opponents, the best of whom should be Humid Climate. Richard Fahey's charge was having only his second start over fences when second to Cumbrian Knight at Hexham, and this imposing sort looks built to carry big weights. He will surely need this first outing since May though and is best watched for the time being. Scotch Corner has plenty of experience and is quite well weighted now, but he was pulled up when tailed off at Newbury last time and is hard to fancy on latest form, so Reseda is the one to beat.
