Verdict

A tight betting heat despite the small field and Tribal Dancer is just preferred. The Venetia Williams-trained gelding was a useful staying hurdler at his best and appears just as effective over the larger obstacles judged on convincing novice victory over this trip at Taunton in late February. The son of Commanche Run found conditions too testing in a competitive handicap at Uttoxeter last time but will appreciate the quicker underfoot conditions. Zaffamore goes well here having scored twice in novice company but ran as though something was amiss last time and has something to prove under a double penalty. Dunster Castle showed some ability last time but his overall form leaves him with a little to find on these terms while Beau Jake looks outclassed.
