With the yard going well we'll take ROTHRES to win this novices' handicap, while Prescelli and Bescot Springs can also go well. The selection was an eased-down 12-length winner of a mares' handicap hurdle at Warwick last time, when the trip was the same as today's and the going was also soft. She carries a 7lb penalty for that success here, and although that race was not red hot, nor is this one, though she may have to work harder to follow-up. Prescelli won a very moderate novices' contest over course and distance last time, and that was also by a wide margin. She has not yet won on ground slower than the good to soft that day, but with just a 2lb rise for that victory she is considered a threat. Bescot Springs is another from an in-form yard and should relish these conditions, but despite the good recent form of the yard he has not quite lived up to expectations yet and we will take a watching brief today. Dark Oasis goes well at this venue and has slipped to a decent mark, while the ground won't be a problem, though preference is for Rothres.
