Baron Samedi goes from strength-to-strength and will need to improve again if he's to defy a massive 18lb rise for completing a hat-trick at Navan. A mark of 97 puts him at Pattern-race level which is perfectly feasible and his young rider's claim can help his cause. Halimi was brought with a superbly-timed run by Kevin Manning to land a premier handicap at Leopardstown and Jim Bolger puts up a 7lb claimer to wipe out a 5lb rise so another big run is expected. However, the one to take from that race is PERSIA (NAP), who finished mid-division on his first start since November. Aidan O'Brien's charge missed the break badly but stayed on strongly and was only just over 3 lengths behind at the finish.
