Kipchak suffered his first Lingfield Polytrack defeat last time but could bounce back off the same mark today, however we prefer the claims of VINTAGE ahead of Prince Namid. John Akehurst's runner landed a touch last time when scoring over course and distance. That was in a Class Four event so he takes a relative drop in grade here and has been let off by the handicapper with just a 2lb penalty. It's true that he only just scored that day but the second horse had been in good form and it looked a decent contest all told, so with Ian Mongan returning for the ride we'll stick with the six-year-old. Prince Namid made a winning debut for his new yard last time and it came over today's course and distance. He returns to handicap company with his mark unchanged and does look well treated on old form, so if he has improved for the switch in yards a big run awaits. The concern is he has generally looked a horse best served by five furlongs and with that in mind he's narrowly opposed along with Kipchak. Connor Dore's charge is hard to beat here, as is shown by a five-from-six strike rate when racing on the Polytrack. His sole defeat came last time so he's a bit to prove, but he is a horse who needs to get to the front and having missed the break last time that proved impossible. Should Liam Keniry bounce him out, he'll once more be a tough nut to crack. Brunelleschi is a decent sort and returns to his latest winning mark, but there was little positive to take from his return to action last time despite the fact it came in a Listed race. Whiskey Junction is weighted to get very close to Vintage on these terms but he has to put a below par display behind him, whilst Rondeau is altogether more consistent and may just prove the better of the two. For Life is well handicapped but woefully out of form and with Poppanan arguably better over further this may go to Vintage.
