The drop in trip does not really look to be ideal for Ascertain so it may pay to side with Firebelly, who rounded off last season with a comfortable success in a Listed race for Fillies in Italy last July. However, there are a number of dangers and it will not be plain sailing for the selection. Bahiano and Hatch are closely-matched on their meeting here earlier in the month and could go well for each way backers, while the form of Grouville's debut win does not look to be anything out of the ordinary and, despite making a favourable impression, he has a little improvement to find. So too does the well-travelled Pertadias Magic, who makes his debut for the Nick Littmoden yard today and is best watched. Therefore, the safest option appears to be Firebelly, who proved she knows what is required of her when she wasted no time in proving her ability when scoring on her debut in a Redcar maiden last term. The daughter of Nicolette will be sporting a visor for the first time today, in what can only be assumed to be an attempt to keep her focused over a trip she is yet to tackle. However, as this is as easy a mile as she will ever encounter, there is no reason to suspect that her stamina will not hold out today. Bahiano gets on well with Kieren Fallon and rates as the biggest threat from those shortlisted as dangers.
