Verdict

This is a tough event, where the majority of runners have won on turf but have not yet run on the all-weather. Nick Littmoden's horses having been flying into the winner enclosure so far this month, and Four Jays could continue that trend. This Alzao colt finished second in his first four starts before making it fifth time lucky when winning at Warwick over six furlongs in September. He finished third in a nursery at Wolverhampton last month, but was beaten five lengths on his Lingfield debut on 13 November. He is dropped back from seven to six furlongs on Tuesday and would definitely have a chance of scoring, despite carrying 9st 7lb top-weight. However, the TEAMtalk vote goes for Captain Hardy. Sylvester Kirk's horses has been running so well throughout the season, and this two-year-old beat Bond Royale last time out at Wolverhampton. Jamie Spencer, who rode him to that success, will be back in the plate. Moreover, he is not too high in the weights to scupper his chances of doubling up. Of the remaining runners, Riska King and The Fisio catch the eye. The former won his six-furlong maiden at York in good fashion in September, and since been placed at Catterick and Doncaster, This will be his first run on the Polytrack, but with Charles Post claiming 7lb from his 9st 3lb burden, you would give him an each-way chance. As you would with The Fisio, with whom Neil Chalmers claims 7lb from his 9st 5lb weight. He won a very good race at Windsor back in June, and hasn't raced since August: it's notable that Ian Balding has brought him back to have an all-weather campaign.
