It might pay to take heed of the betting market here but, without the benefit of that knowledge, we'll take a chance on Secret Affair, with Optimus and Savoy Chapel rated as dangers. The debutants here would not have to be out-of-the-ordinary to play a big part in this race and Secret Affair, a 34,000 guinea-purchase who is a half-brother to multiple three-year-old winner, Secret Place, and from the same family as Bijou d'Inde, falls into this category. As does Savoy Chapel, who cost 32,000 guineas and Optimus, who fetched 52,000 euros. Of those to have run, Tremar has shown promise, but at an average level, a similar comment applying to Beautiful Mover, Gogetter Girl, who now steps up to six furlongs, and Lakesdale, who has been placed at selling level, albeit a competitive Newmarket seller. Fantaisiste put up an improved effort at Brighton last time, but the drop in trip today is not guaranteed to suit. All in all, then, the road leads us back to Secret Affair who, particularly if there is money for him, gets the vote.
