        Verdict

        The three-year-old DARKEST LIGHT hadn't shown much before making his handicap debut at Chelmsford on Thursday where he gained a surprise victory. He appeared to have a bit in hand at the finish so a 6lb penalty doesn't look enough to prevent a quick follow--up despite taking on older horses. Ertidaad was winning for only the second time on his 31st start at Kempton last week. That was an apprentice's race so he escapes a penalty so he has to be considered from his low draw. Mowhoob is generally consistent though he's another who doesn't win very often unlike the veteran Cyflymder, who has amassed 13 victories in a long career, the latest over this track and trip from a higher mark in July. Brother In Arms was in winning form around this time last year and is now 10lb lower.
