      Verdict

A good race and Buxton can land this at the expense of Benllech and Sand Cat. The application of the tongue tie looked to bring about some improvement from Roger Ingram's runner and with only a 5lb penalty accrued for that course and distance success, he can be relied upon to give a decent run for our money. Benllech made hay from lower marks and is in flying form at present. This is a stronger race although Michael Wigham's charge has shown no signs of stopping as far as progression is concerned. Sand Cat has dropped substantially down the weights. He was far from disgraced on his latest start at Southwell and the blinkers are tried again here at Lingfield. Lethal drops back in trip having raced and won over further in the past. Lucayos won this last year but hasn't exactly sparkled ahead of this engagement. Buxton is far from the most bombproof of selections in a good race but he doesn't look harshly judged on what he has shown this season.
