raced wide, prominent, chased leaders 2f out, soon ridden and weakened over 1f out
tracked leader, led 4f out, joined 2f out, stayed on well until headed and no extra well inside final furlong
mid-division, outpaced 2f out, stayed on well inside final furlong, better for race
behind, kept on from over 1f out, never nearer but should improve
started slowly, soon well in rear and outpaced, held off
behind, ridden 3f out, outpaced final 2f and no impression
led until headed 4f out, ridden to dispute lead 2f out, every chance over 1f out, one pace final furlong
close up, headway over 1f out, ran on to lead well inside final furlong, headed last stride
tracked leaders, slightly outpaced over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, not trouble leaders
started slowly, behind, headway wide from 2f out, strong run inside final furlong to lead last stride
Squadron Leader, Scottish Stage and Smokey Blue are the three for the shortlist in this maiden to open the card and the confident vote is given to Squadron Leader. The selection is a colt from a leading yard and he has shown enough in his two racecourse outings to date to set the benchmark for the rest here. He showed promise on his debut before stepping-up on that effort when a good second behind Cinematic at Ayr last time. Nominal improvement will make him difficult to beat today. Scottish Stage is a filly by Selkirk and this newcomer from the Sir Michael Stoute yard is entitled to plenty of respect. However, she will probably be better over further in time and for that reason we will take her on today. Smokey Blue is another newcomer and he catches the eye on breeding. He hails from a yard that can ready a debutant and he is worth noting in the market. Lucysykes hails from a yard in top form and she is another that could go well, but Squadron Leader sets the standard for the rest and he looks the one to beat.
