Most of these are old foes with recent Wolverhampton runner-up Merhoob finishing in front of both George Bowen and Corinthia Knight. The latter had earlier gone close when beaten a neck by Royal Birth over track and trip with GRACIOUS JOHN posting his best effort of the all-weather season with a close-up third. David Evans’ charge was winning in Listed company over course and distance early last year and it could be his turn again today. Verne Castle has plenty to find with several of these but Doctor Sardonicus is capable of better given he slipped at the start last time having won in this grade at Wolverhampton before that while Stone Of Destiny has a chance on a placed effort at Newcastle the last time he raced over the minimum trip.
