led 1f, tracked leader to over 2f out, no extra and one pace from over 1f out
led after 1f, pressed over 2f out, headed 1f out, no extra, lost 2 places near finish
took keen hold, prominent, pressed leader over 2f out, every chance 1f out, not pace of winner
mid-division, headway from 2f out, ridden to lead 1f out, asserted inside final furlong, driven out
mid-division, ridden 2f out, no impression over 1f out, soon one pace
started slowly, towards rear, wide straight well over 1f out and plenty to do, ran on final furlong, finished well, nearest finish
took keen hold, chased leaders to over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
always behind, ridden over 2f out, no headway and weakened over 1f out
held up, ridden over 2f out, stayed on well from over 1f out, not reach leaders
held up behind, outpaced over 2f out, kept on final furlong, never nearer
started very slowly, always outpaced in rear, under pressure over 2f out, never a factor
In an interesting handicap, Convivial Spirit is selected ahead of Prince Of Charm and Follow The Flag. Lordswood has not really built on his winter promise but today's trip will suit better than the 10 furlongs of last time and, if recapturing the groove, could be well weighted. Road To Recovery showed some promise last season and steps up in trip today. Inquisitress has not yet built on her Kempton handicap win, while Prince Of Charm looked an improved performer when scoring over seven furlongs at Kempton when last seen and, even though he has been raised nine pounds for that, he could remain on a favourable mark. We should add that Inquisitress is seven pounds better off for three-and-a-half lengths from that race. Dolly Coughdrop is well weighted based on Turf winning form but her all-weather efforts have yet to match it. Convivial Spirit looked as though he found five furlongs too sharp from his revised mark last time and improvement over today's trip would be no surprise. Follow The Flag looks up to winning races and can't be ruled out based on his sole Turf handicap effort and, finally, Tetouan brings maiden form into this race but he'll be sharper for his return and a good run is also not ruled out. Pick the bones out of that little lot then; our choice is Convivial Spirit.
