      Verdict

      Ruse has been highly tried, and whilst he represents a fine stable, he cannot be truly fancied and so in what is a weak race, Monet's Masterpiece gets the nod ahead of Clear Vision. The last-named performed admirably when third a week ago at Kempton, although he did find precious little when in front. The step up in trip shouldn't be a problem, and if ridden with a little more restraint then he could go close. The selection was favourite for that race but got het up in the stalls and lost his race there. If he is calmer today, he should go well for his pilot who rides the all-weather tracks very effectively. Cove Mountain steps up in trip today, and whilst it shouldn't be a problem on breeding, stamina must be taken on trust so he is passed over in favour of the selection, Monet's Masterpiece.
