A decent handicap which looks set to go the way of Gig Harbor, who will be suited by a return to this 12 furlongs, having looked to have been given plenty to do over an inadequate trip last time. He is a progressive colt and although he has to defy a career high mark, he should prove equal to the task. Appleacre is a tall filly, who you wouldn't have thought would handle these sharp turns, but she had no problem negotiating the bends at Wolverhampton. More of a problem with her could be the faster Polytrack surface, as her win on turf came when there was plenty of give underfoot and she has proved well suited by the slower Fibresand surface. Amigo reserves his best for here and cannot be left out of calculations, while others to consider include Joely Green, who escapes a penalty for her win in an apprentice event on Monday and recent winner Orthodox, who may be capable of some improvement.
