Verdict
No prizes for guessing the housewives choice here but Frankie Dettori's mount, Rosencrans, was really impressive when winning a warm conditions race at Nad Al Sheba last month and he is strongly fancied to follow up here. The likes of Bahiano and Betterlatethannever have a fitness edge on the majority of their rivals and are worthy of consideration to fill the frame behind the selection. Although, in truth, they have plenty to find if Fokine, Valjarv and Makfool arrive here fit enough to do themselves justice and they may have to settle for only minor honours today. As may the David Arbuthnot-trained Bravo Maestro, who is unbeaten from two starts here, but needs to better his form from last year to figure at this level. He is worth keeping a close eye on in the betting market though as he has some valuable experience of the track. However, they will all have to go some to match Rosencrans, who started his career with an easy victory in Chicago for Eoin Harty last July. The son of Forest Wildcat was then packed off to Dubai, where he returned with a fair effort to finish third in the UAE 2000 Guineas last month. The drop back to this trip brought about the anticipated improvement last time and he need only match that performance to have them all trailing in his wake today.
