In depth

Verdict

Bumper winner Cityar and Vivarini, a three-time winner over hurdles, make their debuts on the Flat with the latter arriving in the best form. Zafranagar has also won over timber but has something to find on his previous efforts on the level and WILD GEESE is preferred. Well beaten on last month's hurdling debut, John Portman's charge had shown progress in three starts on the Flat before that, however, culminating in a decent second at Newcastle in September. New Den looks the one most likely to chase him home having been placed on his three starts.
