This looks to be a very tricky maiden for punters to call but Minnesota, Ragged Glory and Asaateel stand out as shortlist material and the nomination is given to Minnesota. The selection hails from the Henry Candy yard and made a promising debut when finishing second behind Gee Bee Em at Bath. She would have won with slightly further that day and as she gets that here she will take a lot of beating. Ragged Glory is another stepped up in trip after a disappointing effort at Goodwood on his most recent start. However he had previously run well on the same track when fourth behind Gortumblo. If his latest run can be forgiven then he would have to enter the equation here and he could well give our selection the most to do. Asaateel is a well-bred newcomer from the John Dunlop yard and on breeding it would be no real surprise to see him go well first time out. However, this colt will have to be quite useful to turn over the selection and for that reason he is passed over, although he may well be good enough to gain a place. Of the remainder, Zalaal is the Godolphin representative and a market move for this well-bred colt could be significant. But Minnesota sets a fair standard here and is taken to score.
