An interesting mix of proven all-weather stalwarts and smart turf performers in a valuable sprint contest. Peruvian Chief falls in to the former category and has been a model of consistency during the winter with a string of placed efforts before lifting a competitive handicap at Wolverhampton last Saturday off a mark of 97 and should give another good account. Kier Park makes his all-weather debut and carries a small penalty but showed himself as good as ever on turf last season and is a leading contender at this level while Mitcham came to hand early last season and, along with the progressive Dragon Flyer, is another to consider but the vote goes to the classy Whitbarrow. Rod Millman's charge lost his form towards the back end of last season but is a very pacey front runner and goes well fresh so it would be no surprise if he proved good enough from a favourable draw.
