Not a strong maiden and Lawood, a recent runner-up over course and distance, is fancied to make amends. The three-year-old was having his first outing since August when chasing home the in-form Summer Recluse, with the third horse seven lengths away. He can be expected to be sharper now and is taken to score. Sparky's Mate has shown he has a little race in him, but he hasn't been seen since October and may be better for the run, while Cala is sure to have plenty of support with Fallon on board. Clive Brittain's filly is from the same family as recent All-Weather winner Rafferty and is one to keep an eye on. Others to consider include Irish raider Sea Skate, who is sure to be all the better for her debut, and Seattle Express, who will be ridden by Richard Quinn, who also rode the dam into second place on the turf course here, back in 1998.
