        Verdict

        Aidan O'Brien has won this four times since 2008 though it's a very long time since the result had an influence at Epsom. SIR JOHN LAVERY represents the yard here. He will no doubt start a short price after his demolition job at Gowran in October and though that was on heavy going which he's unlikely to get here he has the scope to go on to much better things. The Godolphin colt Zamfir took a while to warm up at Leicester but ran on very strongly at the end of that mile and today's extra is certain to suit. John Gosden has two entries and Tartini is much better than he showed behind stable companion Cracksman in the Derby Trial at Epsom as he got no sort of run. He can prove better at this stage than stable companion Glencadam Glory but Mark Johnston also saddles a pair and Group 3 winner Frankuus will be much better for his run in the Classic Trial at Sandown where he led for a long way.

        Sir John Lavery (IRE) 8-13fav (9-5) Dwelt, held up in 6th, pushed along in 3rd 2f out, soon switched to outer and headway to lead 1 1/2f, went clear 1f out, stayed on strongly final furlong, easily, impressive, won at Gowran Park 1m mdn Soft - Heavy in Oct beating Haripour (9-5) by 7l, 9 ran.

        Sofia's Rock (FR) 5-4fav (9-7) Led and soon 4 lengths clear, ridden over 1f out, unchallenged, won at Leicester 1m 4f hcp (3) gf in Apr beating Wefait (9-0) by 10l, 4 ran.

        Tartini (USA) 4-1 (9-0) In touch, slightly outpaced 2f out, ridden and ran on final furlong, nearest finish, 4th of 8, 5 1/4l behind Cracksman (9-0) at Epsom 1m 2f (2) gd in Apr.

        Zamfir 7-2 (9-5) Close up, pushed along over 2f out, headway over 1f out, led inside final furlong, ran on, won at Leicester 1m mdn stks (5) gs in Apr beating Mostahel (9-5) by 1 1/2l, 10 ran.
