BABY STEPS is 2-18 on the all-weather and just 3-36 overall but is a tough and consistent gelding who arrives on the back of creditable placed efforts in good-quality contests at Chester and Haydock. He hasn't stepped up to a mile for over a year but is quite at home over the trip and should deliver a competitive account. Asdaa took advantage of a favourable handicap mark to oblige at Musselburgh but may find life tougher off a 6lb higher rating. Colonel Faulkner is a solid sort who seems to run his race and isn't too badly handicapped, whilst Sir Edward Elgar rates the main danger as this course and distance winner is unexposed and nicely treated for his handicap bow.
