In depth

Verdict

Ed Walker had a wonderful day at Newmarket on Saturday when winning the July Cup with Starman but little fish are sweet too and COTAI HERO makes appeal here. He came from some way back at Chester when only beaten half a length into fourth place and can gain compensation on this more conventional track. Jastar was beaten six lengths at Sandown last time but that was arguably a better race and also represented a notable improvement on his debut run. Red Showgirl also delivered significant progress after a modest debut when a decent second at Wolverhampton and should be involved at the business end under Hollie Doyle.
