The feeling is that What Katie Did is better over six furlongs so the vote goes to Cordon Bleu on his nursery debut; Captain Esteem, Irish Artist and Townkab make it to the shortlist. The selection comes here on the back of three unremarkable runs but now qualified for a nursery we may see him in a better light. He steps up in trip and runs as if this will suit so a mark of 70 may not prove insurmountable this afternoon. There are plenty of dangers in this large field, with recent winner Townkab an obvious one under his winner's penalty. However the drop back in trip may not suit and so we will pass him over. Captain Esteem has shown some ability in his runs to date but he tends to pull hard so will need to settle better today if he is to see out this longer trip, whilst Tom Dascombe has his horses in good form and the step up in trip looks sure to suit his charge Clifton Dancer who takes a drop in class. Ruby Delta and Flying Applause are both exposed and should find at least one of these unexposed rivals too good, so of more interest may be Irish Artist for Richard Hannon. All in all this looks a tough puzzle to solve, and the nomination falls upon Cordon Bleu.
