The fast-improving Agent Gibbs bids to complete a quick hat-trick under a double penalty after last week's easy win at Brighton. But he makes his all-weather debut over a longer trip so MELODICA is preferred. She's also stepping up in distance but one of her siblings has won twice over 1m4f at Kempton so it shouldn't be a problem and she wasn't disgraced on Tapeta last week. Strait Of Magellan has just been touched off three times in a row over similar trips lately so won't be far away but course and distance winners Lady Lunchalot and Toptempo will struggle to give weight to the three-year-olds.
Lady Lunchalot (USA) 25-1 (9-12) Ridden along in rear early stages, headway on outside over 3f out, no impression over 2f out, 9th of 13, 8 3/4l behind Brittleton (8-6) at Lingfield 1m 4f hcp (5) pol in Jul.
Agent Gibbs 16-1 (9-7) Prominent, led over 3f out, clear inside final furlong, stayed on well, won at Nottingham 1m 2f hcp (6) gf in Aug beating Speculator (9-3) by 2 1/4l, 13 ran.
Strait Of Magellan (IRE) 7-4fav (9-7) Mid-division, headway on inside over 3f out, every chance entering final furlong, stayed on strongly towards finish, just failed, 2nd of 8, hd behind Idle Talker (8-11) at Chepstow 1m 4f hcp (6) gd in Aug.
Toptempo 33-1 (9-11) Held up towards rear, pushed along over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, never dangerous, last of 8, 14l behind Memoria (9-12) at Windsor 1m 2f hcp (5) gs in Jul.
Melodica 4-1fav (9-7) In rear, wide and headway 2f out, soon ridden, edged left and chased winner inside final furlong, 2nd of 11, 2 1/2l behind Retro Valley (8-8) at Bath 1m 2f hcp (6) fm in May.
