Samson Quest caught the eye last week and can gain another course and distance victory at the expense of Mythical Charm, Blue Empire and Bragadino to name but three. Samson Quest was successful here in September, after which he left Andrew Balding to join Nick Littmoden, but after failing to open his account for that yard in three outings, he now tries his luck with Tony Carroll. To be fair, the son of Cyrano De Bergerac came within a whisker of scoring seven days ago when overcoming a slow start to go down by a short-head to Barton Sands in first-time blinkers. A quicker break today will surely see him go close and he gets the vote. Mythical Charm has been tried at all trips between seven and 10 furlongs lately, but we get the impression that a mile is his best distance, so he can prove a danger along with Blue Empire, an easy winner at Southwell last time. However, the fibresand brought his stamina into play that day and he might just be outpaced here. Bragadino was successful for Sir Michael Stoute at Sandown four years ago but has shown little since moving to Ireland and is best watched unless the market speaks in his favour, and we shall rely on Samson Quest.
