Landescent is given the chance to follow up on a recent course win, with Midnight Magic and Monduru considered as alternatives. Karen George's charge had to battle hard to win over course and distance last time out but this is probably the right level and connections are right to go for this grade of racing rather than take these rivals on in handicap company. Midnight Mambo is the most unexposed in the field. She ran well in a maiden over 7f at the track in a race that yielded plenty of winners including Gimmethemoonlight and would have a major chance if her recent blot at Wolverhampton is ignored. Monduru is exposed as moderate and has at least troubled the judge in recent weeks. Cooden Beach is a well-bred sort who is a rare runner at this level for Michael Bell. She has shown little since finishing fourth in an early-season handicap at Nottingham last April. Pyrrhic looks best of the rest. Having considered the evidence, Landescent is given as the selection.
