Verdict

A decent case can be made for all so let's try to find a negative or two about the contenders. Giving Glances is a course and distance winner but hasn't been seen on the level since early October, whilst Fire Fighting, a superb stable servant, is perhaps rather less consistent at the age of nine. Battle Of Marathon is solid but has his fair share of weight and Renardeau was beaten 9l last time in a Class 5 handicap and now contests a Class 4. That leaves Emenem who is reliable and usually runs his race and QUEEN CONSTANTINE. The latter has been in good heart this winter, gets on well with her 7lb claimer and scored in a manner the last day which suggested there may well be further improvement for William Jarvis to eke out.
