With ability in the saddle as important as any other factor in this type of event, the vote goes to Cape St Vincent, the mount of Sarah Bosley, with Tidy, Somerset West and Lygeton Lad others for the short-list. Cape St Vincent has not won since scoring on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last year, but has run any number of good races in defeat, and this step up in trip should not be a problem. Tidy did not get the best of runs when third at Newcastle last time, and although that was over a mile, again this trip will not be a hindrance. Somerset West is well handicapped but takes a step up in distance, while Lygeton Lad would be dangerous on his best form. Warden Warren is likely to be a big price, but Christine Dunnett's inmate, who likes to race away from his opponents, is not without a chance of making the frame at least. However, in a race in which bets are best kept on the small side, Cape St Vincent is the pick.
