An interesting maiden in which the class of Desert Chief makes him the pick over the likes of Celticello and newcomers Embark and Bling Bling. Godolphin have yet to hit top gear but it is only a matter of time, and Desert Chief should certainly pay his way based on last season's two efforts. The son of Green Desert was a good second to the useful Crosspeace on his Newcastle bow before finding the ground a bit too soft at Newmarket when sixth to Tomoohat on his final start in October. He is sure to have strengthened up and the slightly faster conditions to day can only help his cause. Celticello did not get the best of runs when finishing in mid-division behind Restoration on his recent Newbury debut, and with the Michael Jarvis stable in form, he should improve enough to take a hand. Embark is a full-sister to Soviet Line and Bling Bling is related to good sprinter Watching. Henry Cecil's Love Me Tender looked nothing special as a juvenile but probably needed time to grow and will be interesting when put in handicaps, but Desert Chief sets the standard here and can give the boys in blue a welcome winner.
