Rome can score again here, with Fiddlers Ford, Montecristo and True Companion worth a mention in a fairly open handicap. Rome popped in unfancied over a mile and a half here recently, showing a big improvement on anything he had shown previously to open his account. The application of first-time blinkers no doubt helped, and although it was an amateur riders' event, the time was good. So, although we would not want to go overboard about his chances here, he should go close with the step up in trip to help. Fiddlers Ford needed all of 18 furlongs to prevail at Warwick in June and the shorter distance plus an absence since then will not help his cause. True Companion is not guaranteed to get the trip but does have winning form on the Polytrack, so should not be ruled out entirely. Montecristo is actually weighted to turn the tables on Rome based on that last run here, but the latter won with such authority that he has to be supported to follow up.
