In depth

Verdict

A tricky maiden to get proceedings under way can go to Trymore ahead of a whole host of interesting newcomers including David Loder's pair Grand Seigneur and Big Band Music. As ever, the market will help in this type of event, but on the public evidence so far, Trymore may be worth a tentative vote. Andrew Balding's colt lost his position early on when making his debut over the course and distance a fortnight ago, but rallied to good effect to finish third behind Alessano, and should improve. With that in mind, he makes more appeal than his stablemate Great Aunt who sees the track for the first time. David Loder saddles both Big Band Music and Grand Seignour, the latter being a half-brother to seven winners including useful two-year-old Fairy Heights. He could turn out to be a cut above the average all-weather performer in time, while of the rest, Richard Hannon's Avanti Avanti is worth keeping in mind, as his trainer rarely fails to fins an opening for his winter runners. In what could turn out to be quite an informative contest, Trymore gets a small vote to keep up the stable's winning record in this event.
