Verdict

The American-bred newcomer Shieldmaiden cost 875,000 dollars and sports Godolphin's first colours with Frankie on board. Stablemate Serenity Star is a half-sister to a couple of winners and she's also worth noting along with Veradis, whose dam made a winning debut as a three-year-old in France. Street Secret and Whispered hail from powerful yards and should improve on their modest debut efforts, but LIGHT BLOW found only her stablemate Baisse too good on her debut at Warwick and gets the vote to open her account here.
