After a promising debut behind Cougar at Down Royal, New Year Honours was expected to go close in a Navan maiden won by Comfort Zone but took a fierce hold and was done with at the last. Several of these were involved in that with TEKAO, a winner on the Flat in France, finishing third. Willie Mullins' charge started odds-on that day but didn't quite go through with it after looking the likely winner in the straight. The winner is trained by Joseph O'Brien, who saddles Goodie Two Shoes here. He won his first two races on the Flat in the summer before a fair effort in a Listed contest on this track and looks a smart recruit to hurdling. Zanndabad, a dual winner on the Flat in France, is another newcomer to look out for along with Ascending, a winner at Goodwood for Clive Cox. Ludus was engaged in the 12.25 at Limerick yesterday.
