Verdict

Profound Beauty has won this for the past three years for Dermot Weld, beating today's entry Drumfire five lengths a year ago. Weld is responsible for SENSE OF PURPOSE this time and the filly, who ran very well over 1m4f behind Banimpire in a Cork Group 3 last time, is taken to continue her trainer's sequence in the event. No three-year-old has won the race so far but few have tried and Kalabaya, a very impressive debut winner over much better fancied stablemate Kastania at Limerick, looks a major threat. The admirable Bob Le Beau attempts the trip for the first time but there should be few concerns about him staying after his Listed success at Limerick for which he picks up a penalty. Fictional Account likes it around here and though beaten a long way by Fame And Glory in the Gold Cup at Ascot he wasn't far behind that winner over this C&D when they met in May.
