Verdict

This is a poor contest but LAKE CHAMPLAIN may well turn out to be better than a 69-rated handicapper after showing much improved form in a big field at Navan and gets the nod to carry his big weight to victory. Best Kept Secret wasn't too far behind and hasn't had much racing so he's another who could start climbing the ratings before long. Liffey View ran well on her first start over this trip at the Curragh on Sunday and should get competitive while Pat Harkin has been running well on softer ground and, if handling the faster conditions, would have to be considered. Dermot Weld doesn't have many runners from the bottom of the weights and if Dram Girl gets a run from her reserve spot she would have to be respected.
