Waterville cost €280,000, which is hardly surprising as the son of Camelot is out of a mare who has produced winners with all 11 of her offspring to race, including the top-class Sea Of Class. He started odds-on for his debut at the Curragh but found the 1m2f too sharp and didn’t get going until too late. Ryan Moore has chosen him rather than the newcomer Gulliver’s Travels, who cost an astonishing €2million and is a full brother to Group 1 winner Magic Wand. Como Park, another son of Camelot, had a nice spin at the Curragh in October which should have done him the world of good. FIRST EMPEROR is by Galileo out of the brilliant Sky Lantern, who has produced winners with all three foals to race including Snow Lantern. He’ll have come on a bundle for last month’s run here and gets the nod.
