In depth

Verdict

A lot will depend on how well Cobbet has come out of his race at Wincanton yesterday and a watchful eye on the betting is advised. Like many of Tom George's purchases from Poland, Cobbet has proved to be a consistent performer and he will take plenty of beating if he is turned out here. The gelding handled the course well enough on his appearance here last month and he looks all set for another big run today. Cameron Bridge is the obvious alternative as he goes well at this time of year. He is on a long losing run though and would not be one to go overboard about. Therefore a chance is taken that Macgyver can build on a promising run last time to benefit if Cobbet is withdrawn from the overnight declarations.
