In depth

Verdict

David Pipe's Sure Josie Sure showed a reasonable level of form in bumpers and won going away on her hurdling debut in a novice event at Wincanton on Boxing Day when last seen and she has every chance of defying the penalty for that win but preference receiving weight is for PENNY QUEEN, who gets the vote ahead of Our Guardian Angel. Tim Vaughan's mare has been going the right way in bumpers having been placed in her last three starts but she faces no easy task on her hurdling debut and may be best watched. Present Your Case is another that has run well in bumpers but now makes her first start over hurdles, while Playing With Fire is the only one of these with a rating but is rated as low as 102 and she looks booked for a place at best. Bumper winner Seasonselite was well held first time up over hurdles, while Tiger Line is another making her debut over timber having shown a reasonable level of form in bumpers. Penny Queen was also useful in bumpers and has disappointed in two starts over timber but they have been on good ground and the more testing conditions today will suit Paul Webber's mare, who looks worth chancing at the likely odds.
