It is hard to be dogmatic in naming a selection in this maiden race as there are a number of unknown quantities, but we will take a chance on Scarlet Invader, with Edge Fund, Dahliyev, Arthur Wardle, Intoxicating and Toby's Dream all given chances too. The selection has yet to race but his trainer has a decent record at this track, and there is plenty to like about him on breeding, as he is a half-brother to the winner Scarlet Ribbons from the dame family as the Oaks winner Circus Plume. Peter Harris's nicely-bred Dahliyev, is another to consider, while Michael Bell's Arthur Wardle showed promise on his Hamilton debut but suggested that a longer trip might ideally suit him better. Intoxicating is also one that catches the eye on breeding, as is Mark Johnston's Toby's Dream, although the trainer's two-year-olds have been a little bit in-and-out on their debuts. The market might provide the best clues as to his chances, a similar comment applying to many of these, including the selection. Transaction is another to have shown promise but others are preferred today, including Edge Fund, who deserves to win a race and will form a good benchmark to the value of this race's form. As we say, keep an eye on the betting but, without the benefit of that knowledge, we will take a chance on Scarlet Invader.
