In depth

Verdict

A 19-runner race for Lady Amateurs gets proceedings underway and it usually not a bad policy to side with the better riders in these event so Port St Charles and Prime Recreation find their way onto the shortlist along with Kallista's Pride and Only If I Laugh but the vote goes to Sir Sandrovitch. The selection looked to be coming to hand last time when sixth at Beverley and there is no doubt that he is very well-handicapped based on his form of last summer. As such, he looks set to go well. Tuscan Flyer is edging his way towards a winning mark and the lightly-raced Kallista's Pride comes firmly into the reckoning based on her Sandown second last time. Only If I Laugh is dropping to a very handy mark, while Torrent is only marginally higher in the ratings after winning at Ripon last time, so he too is entitled to supporters. Valazar and Diamond Ring put up better efforts last time so might be capable of bagging some money but, once again, the selection for this race today is Sir Sandrovitch.
