Verdict

All six have a decent shout in a trappy little heat but PUMBLECHOOK has gone well on both runs for the Johnston team since leaving the Wadham yard and is taken to give the weight away. He drops back to this trip from 2m, prior to which he produced a solid run when third in a competitive Pontefract handicap at this trip. He's only had six runs and should have more to offer. The bare form of San Quentin's well beaten second in a Catterick claimer last time would not be good enough here but the move to the Dr Newland team makes him of interest, the yard specialising in improving horses joining from other stables. The form book suggests that Deep Challenger rates a bigger danger, whilst Desert Cross should be much better back on quick ground after running way below form on the soft the last day.
