took keen hold, tracked winner, ridden over 1f out, weakened final furlong
made all, pushed along and quickened pace over 1f out, ran on strongly
tracked leaders, ridden over 1f out, chased comfortable winner inside final furlong, no threat
A disappointing turnout and there seems little point in opposing EQUILATERAL. Charlie Hills’ three-year-old looked a sprinter to follow when trouncing the useful Foxtrot Lady by eight lengths at Doncaster in May but had found life tough in group company since. However, he still has time on his side whereas the eight-year-old Line Of Reason may not be quite as good as he once was, though was still fourth in a Listed race at Beverley last time when he didn't get much luck in-running. Sarshampla has a lot to find on these terms.
Line Of Reason (IRE) 12-1 (9-0) Held up in rear, headway over 1f out, chased leaders inside final furlong, never able to challenge, 4th of 11, 1 3/4l behind Take Cover (9-0) at Beverley 5f lst stks (1) gf in Sep.
Equilateral 5-1 (9-2) Held up mid-division, ridden and headway over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong, 8th of 10, 6 1/2l behind Yafta (9-2) at Newbury 6f Grp 3 stks (1) gf in Jul.
Sarshampla (IRE) 9-1 (8-12) Behind, driven 2f out, ridden and headway over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, chased front pair towards finish, not pace to get on terms, 3rd of 9, 2 1/2l behind Elnadim Star (8-12) at Ayr 5f lst fll stks (1) gd in Jun.
