Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Ibn Khaldun catches the eye here and gets the nomination ahead of a couple of debutantes in Abeyance and Forsyte Saga. Saaed Bin Suroor is enjoying a tremendous run of form at the moment with three winners from his last six runners, and he can add to his tally here. Ibn Khaldun ran well enough on debut on ground that would not have been entirely suitable, but when his chance had gone he was not knocked about. With that experience under his belt he should be able to land what is not a strong contest. Abeyance is another from an in-form yard, that of Jeremy Noseda, and the Dubai Destination colt has an excellent pedigree, although one that suggests he will do better over longer trips at three. Forsyte Saga is another who should be better next year, although Mark Johnstons presumably thinks she is forward enough to get her going now and any market interest would probably be significant. Of the others, those with racecourse experience look pretty ordinary and Novas may be a better proposition, but we will side with Ibn Khaldun.
